The 2010 Gran Cruor is an unusual blend of 70% Syrah complemented by equal parts of Garnacha and Carinena and comes through as very balsamic, with pungent aromas of shoe polish and peat, notes of dark chocolate, espresso coffee and a background of ripe dark berry fruit. The palate is full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins, good acidity and a slightly warm finish. Drink with powerful food to match the power of the wine. Drink 2014-2020.
This Bellmunt del Priorat winery belongs to the Perelada group from Emporda producing reliable reds from Priorat. They produce a little bit more than 200,000 bottles, which for the appellation is considerable.
