20% of the 2011 Shakre Chardonnay was fermented in new French oak while the remaining proportion was vinified in stainless steel. Still very youthful on the nose, it offers pronounced notes of ripe peaches and melon over warm apple slices and a touch of cedar. Medium bodied and crisp in the mouth, there’s just enough mid-palate fruit and a suggestion of texture, finishing long and a little oaky. The oak should marry with a further 6-12 months in bottle, drinking best 2012-2015.
