The 2013 Tinto is a blend of Touriga Nacional (60%), Touriga Franca (12%), Tinta Roriz (8%) and 5% Souz?o, with the rest an old vines field blend. Sourced from 30-year-old vines, it was aged for 18 months in well used French oak. This beautiful Tinto is concentrated, fresh and lively, with some tannic pop on the finish. Full of flavor, with the fruit showing through immediately, this seems to punch above its weight this year, combining that bright feel with a solid mid-palate and a real backbone. It is approachable, but it has the structure to hold decently, too. It is a very fine performance--maybe it will yet fool me, but right now it seems about as good as any regular Tinto that I've seen from La Rosa.
