Produced from the highest section of Latour’s large parcel of Meursault Genevrieres, the 2002 explodes from the glass with spicy creamed anise, flowers, spices, and minerals. A wine of huge breadth, flesh, and depth, it is medium to full-bodied, massively rich, yet elegant. Loads of plums, white peaches, apples, pears, and spices can be found throughout its hedonistic core of fruit. Projected maturity: now-2011.
Jean-Pierre Latour defines the 2002 vintage for white Burgundies as “tenderness plus fruit, like 1992 but with the freshness of 1996.” He went on to add that he was “stupefied by the completeness of the 2002s. Analytically, they are like the 2000s, but tender, not square like the 2000s.” This estate began harvesting its wines on the 20th of September.
