The Grenache and Syrah-based 1998 Faugeres Cuvee Prestige was aged in oak, a small percentage of which was new. Its aromatic profile reveals scents of blackberries, roses, and raspberries. Filled with dark fruit as well as freshly laid road tar flavors intermingled with a distinctive note of leather, this medium-bodied, fruit-dominated red possesses a long finish, but does exhibit some warmth (read alcohol). Drink it over the next 4-5 years.Importer: Daniel Johnnes/Jeroboam Wines, New York, NY; (212) 625-2505.
