Made from 50% Syrah, 25% Grenache, and 25% Mourvedre, the 1992 Faugeres Prestige displays a darker, more saturated, ruby/purple color than the 1993 Faugeres, a denser, smokier, more intense perfume, substantial fruit and ripeness, and a medium to full-bodied, rich, authoritative and powerful finish. Still unevolved, it is just beginning to open up and strut its considerable fruit and body. It should drink well for 5-6 years, perhaps longer. Chateau des Estanilles, a highly regarded, relatively new domaine (founded in 1986), has been receiving accolades from the French wine press. Several of their selections from the Languedoc-Roussillon are expensive for wines from this region, but there is no doubting the high aspirations possessed by the proprietor, the Louison family, and the laudable results they have achieved.Importer: a Daniel Johnnes Selection, Jeroboam Imports, New York, NY; tel.
