Boglietti’s 2004 Barolo Vigna delle Brunate is terrific. It, too, is a big, weighty Barolo, yet the fruit is more layered than the Case Nere and the tannins have an additional degree of fineness. Perfumed black cherries, menthol, spices and sweet toasted oak emerge from this concentrated, richly-textured wine. With time in the glass the wine gains clarity and focus, becoming even more compelling. This is a great effort from Enzo Boglietti. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2024.
Enzo Boglietti makes some of the richest, most deeply-flavored Barolos in Piedmont. In recent years his wines have acquired an additional level of complexity and clarity. These 2004s are his finest wines yet.
