From one of my favorite sites in the village of Barbaresco, the Carlo Giacosa 2018 Barbresco Montefico shows elegance and grace although this house style is a little understated or timid overall, or at least it seems that way from this new batch of new releases. White licorice and dried violets show up in this release. 7,160 bottles were produced.

Brilliant cherry and strawberry fruit is shaded by notes of hay, broom and iron in this red, which is succulent and firmly structured, offering dusty tannins that line the finish. Overall, this is balanced and open, with ripe fruit returning on the lingering finish.
