The 1988 Barolo is an intensely concentrated wine that possesses a sweet, cedary, earthy, cigar box aroma, and great concentration. The superb inner core of fruit suggests low yields and/or old vines. The finish is explosively long, moderately tannic, and intense. It is soft enough to be drunk now, but promises to be even better with 5-7 years of aging; it should keep for 12-15 years. Absolutely gorgeous!
