The 2004 Claret is a blend from four vineyards. It is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Malbec and Syrah. It was aged in French oak, 50% new, for 20 months. Purple-colored, the wine delivers scents of pain grille, lead pencil, and smoky black currants. This leads to a fleshy wine with gobs of ripe black fruits and well-concealed tannin. There is enough structure for 1-2 years of evolution and it should provide pleasure through 2020.
