The 2001 Gran Reserva is 90% Tempranillo, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot from 60+-year-old vines aged for 40 months in seasoned French and American oak. It is inky purple with a brooding nose reluctantly giving up aromas of cedar, tobacco, mineral, and assorted black fruits. Sweet, layered, spicy, and ripe, the wine is already exhibiting complexity as well as an elegant personality. It can be enjoyed now through 2025.
