The 2009 Chianti Classico (with small elements of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah) is a slightly understated wine that boasts a darkly concentrated color and vibrant aromas of cherry, blackberry and sour plum. Vibrant fruit aromas are softened by light contours of spice and leather for added touches of sophistication and depth. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.
Founded in 1256, Castello di Meleto is another enchanted castle set against a fairytale Tuscan background of billowing clouds, vineyard rows and cypress trees. There are luxury accommodations and the site is often booked for events and weddings. Of the estate’s 1,000 hectares, 180 are planted to grapes including Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s among the most beautiful properties in Gaiole in Chianti.
