Castello di Meleto’s 2008 Chianti Classico is a beautifully long, expressive wine. This imposing, structured Chianti Classico presents dark fruit, mint, flowers and spices, all framed by a persistent vein of minerality that adds support and freshness. A few more months in bottle should help the wine come together, but the density of the fruit is already beginning to emerge. The Chianti Classico is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot aged 80% in cask and 20% in medium-sized French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel.
