The Cortona Syrah Bramasole is once again outstanding in 2005. A deep, inky purple, it possesses terrific density and richness in its expression of varietal aromas and flavors. Violets, crushed rocks, cassis, blueberry jam, baking spices, earthiness, sweet toasted oak and cured meats are just some of the nuances that flow from the glass. Today the tannins come across a little coarse, most probably because of the quality of the vintage, but a few years of bottle age should help round the edges.
