The 2001 Bramasole, only the second year to be produced, is a blend of Syrah and a small percentage of Merlot, both grown in the neighboring township of Cortona, now an appellation in its own right. The Syrah dominates the personality of the wine in its deep, blackish ruby color, the peppery nose of blackberries and hung meat, and the warmly alcoholic, broad, sumptuous palate, dense and sensual at the same time. Drink: 2005-2016. One of the few examples of successful Syrah in Tuscany, it is a wine well worth searching out.
