The dark, almost opaque and powerful 2011 Grans Muralles is a blend where they are using the recovered varieties like Garró and Querol, and the better known ones like Garnacha, Monastrell and Cari?ena grown on complex slate, granite and limestone soils. It matured in new French oak barrels for 18 months, which has given the wine plenty of tannins that are going to need some time in the bottle to get rendered. It has a Mediterranean profile mixing aromatic herbs (rosemary, thyme) with ripe black fruit and and earthy touch, with some hints of violets. A powerful red for the long haul. 5,856 bottles were filled in August 2013.
