The 2009 Jaspi Maragda is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, 25% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Falset Valley aged in American and French oak for 12 months. It has a crisp, floral bouquet with blackberry and blueberry aromas that carry the vanilla-y French oak with aplomb. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, saturated tannins. There is real weight and density to this wine, with just about enough acidity to keep the balance fresh, though there is a vegetal tincture that jars on the chewy finish. This should reward two or three years in bottle. Drink now-2016.
