Fashioned from old vine Carignan (75%) and the rest Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2001 Mas Roig’s dense ruby/purple color is followed by a sweet perfume of raspberries, black currants, crushed rocks, and subtle wood. Medium-bodied and elegant with good underlying acidity, a striking sweet earthy component, and considerable personality and soul, it should drink well for 7-8 years.
