Completely destemmed and vinified in stainless steel, the 2007 Cote Rotie Maison Rouge spent two years in 30% new barrels before bottling. While there's was a lot of hail damage in 2007, most of it was further north and the Maison Rouge lieu-dit escaped relatively unscathed. Giving up lots of cassis, vanilla bean, smoke and bouquet garni aromas and flavors, it's a ripe, forward, fleshy and sexy Cote Rotie that is drinking beautifully today. It has enough concentration, tannin and integrated acidity to continue showing nicely through at least 2022.
