The 2007 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (Gold Capsule) is from another great botrytis vintage that also brought some Eisweins. Based on botrytis picked at 245° Oechsle, this golden-amber colored Treppchen TBA opens with a deep, intense and concentrated yet fresh bouquet of stewed apricots, lemon chutney and green figs with discreet malty aromas and notes of porcini, tea and crushed stones. Dense and concentrated on the palate, this is a rich, oily-textured and viscous TBA with enormous concentration yet also finesse, precision, elegance and even mineral tension on the precise, fresh and even salty finish. This 2007 is still too rich and young to be served all too soon, but it is a perfect TBA that could have been sold as a Long Gold Cap too. This was bottled with 430 grams of residual sugar and 6% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.
