The samples from this co-operative were just a little inconsistent. The 2009 Casa Gualda Seleccion C&J is pure Tempranillo raised in new and used French and American oak. It offers a strong, chocolate-scented bouquet with moderate definition, while the palate is simple, with crisp leafy red fruit, nicely judged acidity and a pleasing, precise nose that has much more elegance than the nose suggests.
