The 2001 Barolo Riserva Ginestra hits the palate with a burst of intense dark fruit, but the wine quickly shows more advanced, oxidative tones throughout. This is an example of a wine where the bouquet has matured at a faster rate than the fruit and tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Blackberry, light toasty oak, dried flowers and dark chocolate on the nose. Impressive. This full-bodied wine is so layered and impressive, with superripe, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Polished and very, very beautiful, but still a baby. Be patient. The best ever from this producer.
