The legendary Dr. Parce has once again turned in a level of achievement that merits considerable attention. These exotic, limited production wines have emerged from the sun-drenched terraces of Collioure and Banyuls, two of the smallest appellations in the Languedoc-Roussillon. There are four cuvees of Collioure, a dry, red wine containing a high percentage of Mourvedre and some Syrah. Although high in tannin, the 1993 Les Junquets offers good ripe fruit, plenty of spice, and a medium to full-bodied, rich, long finish. Once again it is a distinctive wine for drinking over the next 12+ years, but its funky, tree-bark/sweaty saddle leather bouquet is controversial. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Chester, VT; tel.
