A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and the rest Mourvedre and Cinsault, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape is a classic effort that does everything right. Garrigue, dry aged beef, blackberry and kirsch are all present in this medium to full-bodied, ripe, layered and character-filled effort. Possessing excellent concentration, sweet tannin and low acidity, it’s a rock-star base cuvee to drink over the coming decade.
