The medium dark ruby-colored 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape a la Gloire de Mon Grandpere is more structured and less charming than the 2006. It exhibits notes of roasted peanuts, black cherries, pepper, and garrigue in its medium-bodied, spicy personality. Sharp tannins in the finish suggest 1-2 years of bottle age will be beneficial. It should last for a decade or more. This top-notch estate has been producing impressive, classic examples of Chateauneuf du Pape for over 25 years. All three cuvees are noteworthy efforts.Importers: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel. (908) 654-6173 and Touton Selections Ltd., New York, NY; tel. (212) 255-2506
