The 2011 Perles Roses produced with Pinot Noir grapes, is orange-colored and has a nose of candied orange peel and chalk, with notes of smoke, brioche and yeasts. The carbonic gas is well-integrated into the wine, which shows good freshness provided by balanced acidity. Drink now-2016.
Some of the traditional Cava houses age their liqueur d’expedition in barrels, which give the wines a smoky, nutty, barrel-fermented feeling to them, as seems to be the case with the Cavas I tasted from Naveran. I liked the character of the wines, combining mineral sensations with plenty of yeast autolysis aromas and that smoky character.
