Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Lafleur has a beautifully composed bouquet with scents of black cherry, truffle, iron piping and a touch of mint. It is very well defined, nicely focused and full of breeding. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, a superb seam of acidity, good body and presence in the mouth. I adore the ferrous aspect of this Lafleur married with the sense of energy conveyed towards the finish—an off-vintage Pomerol that seems to be flourishing with bottle age. Superb. Perfumed, fruity and aromatic, with licorice and berry on the nose. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit and a spicy, almost raisiny character on the palate. Long and very soft and silky, with a lovely core. A little austere, but with wonderful concentration for the vintage. Racy and sweet. Best after 2013. 1,000 cases made. -JS

A really complete wine; elegant, harmonious with a firm but fine tannic frame. The owners feel the old vine Cabernet Franc (43% of the blend) made the difference this year. Doesn''t have the power of 2005 or persistence of 2006 but this is a wine of great purity and charm which will doubtless age well.
