Showing a lean, ruby-colored appearance, the Fontanafredda 2017 Barolo Fontanafredda Proprietà in Fontanafredda does a very good job in a difficult vintage. The wine opens to bright cherry, cassis and rose, and its intensity is not too bright and not too light. The wine hits the right marks with a softy polished mouthfeel and integrated tannins. This was a release of about 15,000 bottles.

Mint, leather and tar accents frame the cherry compote center in this juicy red, which is balanced already in its youth, lingering with fresh fruit, wild herb and mineral details on the long finish.
