From a cool, late vintage, the 2002 C?tes du Roussillon Villages La Petite Sibérie is a full-bore, pedal-to-the-metal Grenache that has overflowing notes of toasted spice, kirsch liqueur, licorice and graphite all soaring from the glass. This is a big, hedonistic beauty that fleshes out nicely on the mid-palate, has plenty of sweet tannin and a blockbuster, heady finish. It’s certainly not for those craving subtlety, but is a blockbuster Roussillon to drink over the coming 4-5 years.
