The 2015 Friuli Colli Orientali Illivio is a blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Picolit, and the wine takes the best of local winemaking tradition and marries it with structure to balance the aromatic intensity. I suppose that's the secret of wines from Friuli in a nutshell. The region makes some of Italy's best white wines that are accessible and immediate, yet they're powerfully complex and full of personality too. You definitely get a clean glimpse of that here.
