The 1999 Hermitage Les Dionnieres is Hermitage at its most peppery, herbaceous, and fragrant. Although closed as well as austere in the finish, the complex nose of black fruits, earth, dried herbs, pepper, and minerals is followed by a medium-bodied, tightly-knit wine with high tannin and plenty of structure.
