The 2011 Tempranillo offers classic black cherry, cassis, licorice, cedar and big minerality in its full-bodied, concentrated and savory style. A blend of 92% Tempranillo, 6% Syrah and 2% Grenache, it shows more ground pepper and chocolaty nuances with air, as well as a serious tannic spice that will benefit from another year in the cellar. I haven’t tasted any aged example of this cuvee, but I’d be shocked to see it not show superbly at age 10. It’s one of the top examples of this variety coming out of California. – August 2014 (Jeb Dunnuck)
