Dark cherry preserves and salted caramel, chocolate and herbal elixir mingle on the seductively creamy yet effusively bright palate of Chapoutier's 1992 Banyuls, which represents a couple of lots that were married and bottled in 2009. Black tea smokiness, cinnamon spice, and bitter hints of cherry stone and resinous herbs combine for a finish of impressive complexity, if not quite the sheer length of the corresponding 1994.
