The marvelous 1989 Barolo is made in a traditional, robust, tannic yet super-rich style. It emanates from the highly regarded Cannubi vineyard. It is more developed aromatically than the 1990 Barolo Cannubi, with its marvelously sweet, plummy, cherry, spicy nose, and deep, full-bodied, large-scaled flavors oozing with extract and tannin. This wine will benefit from 5-6 years of cellaring and last for 20 or more years. This wine is unequivocally from the traditional school of Piedmontese winemaking. Its rustic side, evidenced by huge quantities of ferocious tannin, is accompanied by deep, full-bodied, concentrated wine with layers of pure, ripe fruit. Impressive!
