A traditional producer, Carretta's 1985 Barolo possesses mouthsearing tannins, plenty of body and alcohol, and a dusty, rustic texture. Because of the 1985 vintage, the wine evidences more sweet fruit, with an attractive scent of almonds and black cherries. This spicy, full-bodied wine can be drunk now, but it promises to be even better with several more years of cellaring. It should last through the first decade of the next century. Importer: Wine Bow, Inc., New York, NY.
