The 2001 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, opened by Frédéric Drouhin after we had finished tasting through the Domaine's 2013s, has an intense bouquet with attractive, fully mature scents of dried pineapple, tropical fruit and just a touch of swimming pool. Very smooth and harmonious on the mouth, quite honeyed and sensual, surprisingly rich toward the finish with hints of truffle and mushroom lingering on the aftertaste. What a lovely Chablis, one that I would not hesitate in opening now.
