There are two St Joseph releases, both of which are beautiful wines. From a terrific, cool, granite terroir just outside of Tournon, the 2015 Saint Joseph Sainte Epine was completely destemmed and aged in second and third-fill barrels. Notes of violets, incense, crushed rocks and exotic spices all emerge from the glass and this early-bottled 2015 is full-bodied, concentrated and structured, with ripe, yet present tannin. It's a killer St Joseph from one of the top terroirs in the appellation.
