The 1997 Scuro (a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon aged one year in barrel prior to bottling) may turn out to be outstanding. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by a sweet, flamboyant bouquet of black fruits intermixed with smoke and toast. A supple texture, excellent concentration, and a seamless personality result in an elegant, deep, concentrated, stylish wine to enjoy over the next decade.
