The 2009 Vallegarcia Syrah comes from the same area and sees eight months in mainly new French oak. It has a lovely, ripe, Northern Rhone inspired bouquet with alluring floral scents emerging with aeration. The palate is sensual and lithe on the entry with macerated small dark cherries and blueberry. It is very pure and sexy, although I found myself yearning for a little more backbone and reserve towards the generous, almost honeyed finish. Drink now-2015.
