This lived up to its billing, and may well be the wine of the vintage. It's ultra rich, deep and complex, loaded with cassis, currant, plum and black cherry flavors. Finishes with ripe, sweet tannins, not the dryness and austerity found in so many '86s. Ready now, but perhaps cellaring into 1998 will add even more dimension.--1986 California Cabernet horizontal. 1,400 cases made. -JL
