Another serious and age-worthy Syrah from this estate that will demand patience is the 2013 Hermitage. Coming from the more sandy, calcareous and limestone parts of Hermitage hill, it spent 24 months in barrel before being bottled. Olive tapenade, smoked earth, black currants and hints of beef blood flow nicely to a medium to full-bodied, balanced, yet concentrated and structured Hermitage that will benefit from 5-6 years of cellaring; it will have two or more decades of overall longevity.
