This offering is well-balanced, with nicely integrated acidity, alcohol, and tannin. The opaque purple-colored 1996 Barbaresco may merit an outstanding score if it develops more complexity. There is spicy new oak intertwined with black fruits in this modern-styled effort, as well as good flesh, texture, and purity. The acidity provides vibrancy, and buttresses the wine's weightiness. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. No known American importer.
