The 2007 Pinot Noir De Lancellotti Vineyard is sourced from a 22-acre biodynamically certified vineyard next door to the Bergstrom winery. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an alluring perfume of sandalwood, cinnamon, clove, violets, black cherry, and plum. This leads to a dense, ripe, structured, yet succulent Pinot Noir which stretches the limits of size in this vintage. It will benefit from another 2-3 years of bottle age and offer a drinking window extending from 2012 to 2020.
If you want an unvarnished opinion about the state of affairs in Willamette Valley, Josh Bergstrom is someone who will tell it straight. His 2007s are uniformly successful as well as reflective of what the vintage provided.
