The 2006 Pinot Noir De Lancellotti Vineyard, from a biodynamically farmed estate, is dark ruby in color, bigger and richer than the preceding wines but not as complex. It also appears to have a bit of alcohol poking through. There is plenty of sweet fruit on the palate and good length but, overall, the wine comes off as monochromatic. The Bergstrom Winery, under the direction of Josh Bergstrom, has quickly risen to the upper echelon of United States producers of Pinot Noir. Not to be forgotten is the fact that the winery also turns out superb Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. In fact, the 2006 -Sigrid- Reserve Chardonnay (94 points) ranks with the best I have ever tasted from Oregon and is reminiscent of a Domaine Leflaive Premier Cru.www.bergstromwinery.com
