Amadieu’s 2005 Vacqueyras la Grangeliere is the best vintage I’ve tasted of this cuvee. Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah that sees a traditional vinification and aging in older casks and barrels, it has a medium-bodied, savory, Provencal style to go with lots of sweet currant and black raspberry fruit, spice and toast. Drinking at point, it’s best consumed over the coming couple of years.
