The estate’s 2010 Isola dei Nuraghi Iselis Rosso is a Monica/Carignano/Bovale Sardo blend aged in French oak barrels. Expressive, perfumed aromatics meld into a dark cherries, plums, sage, mocha and rose petals. The Iselis shows the richer side of these indigenous Sardinian varieties. Ultimately, it is the bouquet that keeps the wine from being excessively heavy and ponderous. Although not especially varietal, this soft, textured Sardinian red is quite pretty if taken on its own terms. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016.
