The purple-colored 2006 Ardiles is predominantly Garnacha and Carinena with a bit Syrah and Cabernet added to the mix. It was aged for 12 months in 70% new French oak. The already complex bouquet delivers brooding scents of mineral, espresso, black cherry, and blackberry. Rich and dense on the palate, layered spice box and black fruit notes make an appearance nearly concealing enough tannin to support another 3-5 years of cellaring. Drink this suave effort from 2012 to 2021.
Merum Priorati’s vineyards are located around the village of Porrera.
