Nozzole's impressive Cabernet Sauvignon-based Il Pareto performed admirably in three consecutive vintages (1988, 1989, 1990). The 1990 is the best of the trio. It offers a tight but promising bouquet of jammy fruit, smoky, toasty new oak, and a cedary, spice box character. Full-bodied, with an opulently rich palate, moderate tannin, and a heady finish dominated by the wine's glycerin, extraction of fruit, and alcohol, it should drink well for 10-15 years.
