The 2008 Reserva is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo aged for two years in 95% American oak barrels and the remaining 5% were French, which has a great influence on the character of the wine, at least in its youth. It has some oak aromas, with notes of smoke and dill intermixed with aromas of violets and an herbaceous touch. The medium-bodied palate reveals high acidity, purity of flavors and a persistent finish, with a little bit of tannin hanging in there. This should age with style. Drink 2015-2019.
This is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja, which now belongs to the Principe de Vina group in Navarra. Very clean, well-made and consistent wines that are highly recommended.
