The master of Cornas, Monsieur Clape, has turned out average quality 1993s that reveal good color, as well as a hardness and hollowness, no doubt because of the miserable weather conditions experienced before and during the harvest. The 1994s are much more promising than the 1993's. Clape's 1994 Le Vin des Amis is a good, peppery, black fruit-scented wine with an excellent dark ruby/purple color, medium body, and a long, spicy finish. It is soft enough to be drunk now and over the next 5-6 years.
